Gene expression is regulated along developmental timelines to control terminally differentiated cell types. The mechanisms coordinating gene expression during synaptic development in different neuronal cell types are not yet well known. My investigation utilizes computational and physiological methods to explore changes in chromatin states, shared transcription factor binding sites, and alterations to synaptic physiology from transcription factor knockdown; which will help elucidate the molecular interactions that control the development of differentiated synapses in the Drosophila central nervous system.
